6th Grade Project-- Ancient Egypt

Today I went down to the grade school to see the 6th Grade Ancient Egypt Exposition. Maddy's project, a diorama of the Giza Plateau (below, 2 photos), was FANTASTIC. You can see the Great Sphinx below, right in front of one of the pyramids (white because "back then" they were covered in limestone).
Here you can see the smaller Pyramids of the Queens. She did a great job. Her project really stood out.
Her classmates also did great, there were a lot of sphinxes. Take a gander...(Like the sticky note?)

Dylan's favorite (SURPRISE, SURPRISE!!)

A favorite of mine...

And another one that I really liked:

Project

No, it is not a gigantic wad of chewed up gum, it is what you get when you mix 16 containers of playdough together, in preparation for the big school project. Check back to find out what the digusting blob will become...

BEDTIME

Not so smooth sailing at the Coxes tonight, we had 3 complete meltdowns after our dinner of tacos (I made), frozen mini pizzas (Nick), a large bowl of sugar cereal and one bite of a PB&J (Dylan), and ??? (Maddy). I was in no mood and just escorted them all gently to their bedrooms. I tried to be as gentle as I was angry, so I was VERY GENTLE.

Mike's pretending to be happy that all the kids are in bed, however dramatic getting them there was tonight.
This is as close as I dared get to Maddy, who got sent the earliest for sassing, or hitting, or whatever. I can't even remember what she did now. She did come out to brush her teeth and for the prayer, but I didn't even knock.... (ps don't my doors and hall look nice?) She lost computer time for the entire weekend. I'm sure she thinks she can wheedle out of it, but I'M SERIOUS.

Nevermind that Dylan was actually watching a cartoon IN HIS BED as I took this photo, he continued to cry because I told him that if he didn't get to BED NOW there would be no movie.

Nick got sent at 8:15 for not doing what he was asked. He lost his Friday computer time and went to bed super GROUCHY.

GOOD TIMES AT OUR HOUSE!

It was game day on Saturday, and we had Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle Al and the cousins out for the big game. The Cougars vanquished UCLA and I fought the battle against 1/2 of the bushes in my yard. The crushing blow administered at the hands of the MIGHTY COUGS was nothing compared to what I did to 1) the spider population of my yard, 2) the overgrown bushes everywhere in my planter boxes and 3) the encroaching aspens and sumacs on the back hill of my lot. The roar of the crowds at LaVell Edwards Stadium couldn't hold a candle to my diabolical satisfaction as I destroyed the root system of YET ANOTHER unwanted TREE growing in my lawn. Also I fixed all the damage that those IDIOT comcast guys did when they installed my cable. All in all, it was a great weekend.

WE WON!!

Isn't it IRONIC that the very thing that lost them the game (QB was "celebrating" in the endzone and lost his kicker 15 yards on the point that would have tied it up) is what MILLIONS of BYU FANS across the globe have been doing all weekend (I think the colloquial form of "celebrating" would be "rubbing it in")?
