halloween day:
1:30am: still trying to figure out how to sew maddy's 16 "grow a snakes" which are huge and slimy from being in the bathtub for 3 days onto a headband for her Medusa costume (i told her not to soak them)
7am: kids have choir: luckily, the 6th grade is going to the roller rink to skate so 6th grade is not wearing costumes (another 8 hours to stew over the snakes) Nick decides at the last second to bag his ghoul idea and wear an Obi Wan robe but is upset that the school has outlawed weapons so he can't take his light saber.
10am: School parade--at the elementary school to see Nick. it is mass chaos... (Chelsea and Dylan are at home making cookies)
12:30pm: At Nick's class to "help with the party," the mom with the cupcakes doesn't show, so I zoom to the market and grab...doughnuts to decorate...i think the kids liked it ok, tho' (missed dropping by work for the party there due to the cupcake/doughnut fiasco)
2pm: home to finish getting ready for the kid party (stupid fillo dough mummies and pigs in a blanket and popcorn chicken, you get the idea...)
3pm: kid party, the pinata wouldn't break, but they liked the other games, esp. the cookie decorating
4:30pm: kids leaving (we gave up on the snakes, maddy went as a witch), grown-ups arriving for dinner and getting ready for Trunk-or-Treating at the church
5:30pm: Trunk-or-Treating: the easy, fast way to fill your pillowcase with nutrient-poor, calorie RICH food items
7:00pm: back to the house with the moms, the kids and dads are indefatigable (due to the candy fuel) and continue the quest, although the dads are now on the dune buggy, not walking
9:30pm: more grown-ups for scary movie time (no kids allowed)
10:30pm: last of the moms and kids leave, I start cleaning up
12:15am: cleanup finished and BEDTIME (i can still hear the scary movie downstairs!!)
PHEW. now i only have to worry about thanksgiving and christmas...

And you work too! you are wonder woman!
WOW! Sounds like a fun filled exhausting day! You always make everything so fun Becky! The kids looked cute in their costumes. Grant was a little bummed about the no weapon policy at his school too! Nate's preschool teachers were probably wishing that they had that policy though...hehe!
of course it's not half as fun as last year here. . . we miss you!
