First Stop: Country Bakery of Lehi

Dylan and I hit the road early, getting to the bakery on Main St. just after 7 pm. You can see our selections below, I asked for glazed doughnuts, assuming I would get the famous "square" glazed treats that this joint is famous for but when we got home and opened up the boxes they were round. This in NO WAY affected the taste, texture and overall DELICIOUSNESS of said glazed doughnuts.  Our universal favorite was the buttermilk doughnut, bought on a whim when I asked the girl at the shop what her favorite was.

DONT GET ME WRONG. These were all finger-lickin' good. The fritters were off the charts.  Didn't love the bear claws or the crocodile jaws. Too much stuff goin' on but I think that is personal preference. In general, I prefer the "bismark," which is a chocolate-glazed-vanilla-custard-filled treat. Lehi Bakery's version came in bar form. The chocolate frosted bar was one of the last ones in the box--about lunch time I cut the end off just to try it and saw the custard inside...It was SOOOOOO good. I ate 2 bites even with bellyache from the morning's donut glut. and it rocked.  Not sure if all the stops on this 'tour' are going to be like this one but I can honestly say that these are the best doughnuts I've ever eaten. Do yourself a favor and get on down there. But get there early:)

Donut Tour of Utah, Anyone?

Ok, yes. Its been a while since I last posted. We have had a lot going on, what can I say?  BUT I have been impelled to return to the blog-o-sphere by an earth-shattering idea. Donut.Tour. of Utah.

I saw this post on FB a little while ago and the idea has been niggling at me for almost a month now. And today, at 6:43am, Dylan and I took action. We hit the road for donuts.  So what you are going to see for the next little while is a log of our donut tour. BON APPETITE!

Dylan's Christmas Concert

I love "Still, Still, Still." Caught the tail end of it below. Dylan is in a light gray tee on the back row with his hair in his face.

CLYDE-IUS CUTE-IUS

This cute little guy is my youngest nephew Clyde, he turned 1 today! He has a lot of names, including Clyde-ius Cute-ius, Clyde-ius Pooppants-ius, and Clyde-ius Nonap-ius. I've been traveling to the area frequently and have been watching him learn to walk, first a step, then a few, last week 20 in a row! Unfortunately (or fortunately, if you are mom) for the Clyde, we hereby coin a new name for him: Clyde-ius Noboob-ius. Good luck on whole milk, Clyde! What a cutie, I LOVE him!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CLYDE!

High School Football

So YES, its been a while since I posted. And Maddy is in High School now. AND, she is marching in the band, playing clarinet. We attended the first home game Friday night, it was SUPER fun! The band didn't field a show, but she played in the pep band. Her HS team has won the UT State Championship 11 out of the last 13 years (or something super awesome like that but I don't know all the details), and blew out the competition, so it was a fun game to watch.
Nick had a good time with the free popsicles.
And the only shot of Maddy I got was this one at half time. I'll post some more of her soon, she's gotten so beautiful!

6th Grade Graduation

Nick finished elementary school! So sad to see my baby boy grow up, so happy that 6th grade is OVER for one more kid! He received the President's Award For Academic Excellence. His AWESOME teacher, Mrs. Miller.

Dylan finished his academic year, too, but Mrs. Bihlmaier didn't give him a diploma...

Country Fair

Another of the dreaded 6th grade projects (see a few more of them here and here and here), Nick chose Russia for his Country Report. It could have been worse.

I want this garden!!

Mike and I spent a few days in Williamsburg, leaving the children with Mike's mom. I coveted this garden (and the warm weather that grew it, its still 45-50 degrees in Utah). Mike always loves the weapons.

SERIOUSLY?

Mike's favorite house in Wmsbg...

love these little girls

I found these cuties at our local market--they are stickers on a transparent sheet! I love, love, love them! They remind me of Russia, I never expected to see them here!
